2021 is over, long live 2022
As another year comes to an end, most of us go through that post-mortem exercise of reflection.
So here is mine:
2021 has been a significant year overall- despite the continuing global pandemic.
I got engaged to the love of my life. I spent some quality time with my brothers after nearly four years apart.
I am grateful that my family and close friends are healthy and well. Some got married, engaged, moved to a new city, or even became parents.
I am grateful for having mentors and mentees that have helped me grow in ways I couldn’t even dream of.
My most precious lesson of the year is having a better understanding of the value of time. Time, its direction, and how it is spent is priceless.
From a work perspective, my most clear realization for this past year can be summarized with the following: Software engineering is complex.
There is and will always be so much to learn, refine, and learn again.
So what about my goals for this new year and the future?
I want to learn Rust, do more Go and machine learning projects, and finish my two side projects(an article on that coming soon).
I am also getting married in May and trying to be the best husband and maybe father too.
Honestly, this new year’s eve is just like any other day for me, except for increasing self-doubt and questioning. I tend to think that I could have done more of the past 8766 hours.
On that, I would like to wish YOU, who just spent that last few minutes reading my thoughts, a Happy new year, full of happiness, joy, and health!!
